As a quick reminder, this program is designed to combine in-person sessions with online study through the Baseworks Primer. These two components work in synergy — the online content provides conceptual foundations that directly inform our in-person practice, and vice versa. To help everyone get the most out of the program, we’ve organized specific Primer assignments that correspond with each session.

Here’s the assignment schedule:

Before Session 1 — Saturday, April 4 (9:10-10:50 AM): Complete Segments 1-2 (all 14 lessons through 2.12 Form Practice: Star Form) Total time: approximately 58 minutes

Before Session 2 — Saturday, April 11 (1:10-2:50 PM): Complete Segment 3 lessons 3.1-3.8 (8 lessons through 3.8 Applied Practice Lab: Converge) Total time for new material: approximately 56 minutes

Before Session 3 — Saturday, April 18 (9:10-10:50 AM): Complete the rest of Segment 3 lessons 3.9-3.14 (6 lessons through 3.14 Baseworks Focus vs Traditional Exercise Goals) Total time for new material: approximately 43 minutes

Before Session 4 — Saturday, April 25 (9:10-10:50 AM): Complete Segment 4 (all 12 lessons through 4.12 Applied Practice Lab: Intensity Modification - Effort 2) Total time for new material: approximately 87 minutes

Before Session 5 — Saturday, May 2 (12:10-1:50 PM): Complete Segment 5 lessons 5.1-5.4 (4 lessons through 5.4 Applied Practice Lab: Transit) Total time for new material: approximately 29 minutes

Before Session 6 — Saturday, May 9 (12:10-1:50 PM): Complete the rest of Segment 5 lessons 5.5-5.8 (4 lessons through 5.8 Applied Practice Lab: Equate) Total time for new material: approximately 27 minutes

Session 7 — Saturday, May 16 (12:10-1:50 PM): No new assignment

These are the Primer lessons you’ll want to complete by the start of that session.

Note: Only the Practice lessons require you to do full physical practice. The Theory and Practice Key Points content can be watched anywhere — during your commute, in a cafe, on a lunch break. We’ve included the time details so you can estimate your commitment and plan accordingly.

Please stay on this assignment schedule. It establishes the foundation for all our in-person sessions.

If you have any questions about the assignments or accessing the Primer content, feel free to post them here.

Hey {{contact.first_name}},

Once again, we’d like to welcome you to the Spring 2026 Smart Movement Study Program. We’re looking forward to meeting you at Proto Studio the day after tomorrow, on Saturday, April 4th.

We’ve posted the full Primer assignment schedule to the cohort forum. It covers what to complete before each of the seven sessions, with time estimates so you can plan your week.

Your First Assignment

Before Session 1 this Saturday, April 4 (9:10–10:50 AM), complete Segments 1–2: all 14 lessons through 2.12 Form Practice: Star Form. Total time is approximately 58 minutes.

Only the “Practice” and “Applied Practice Lab” lessons require physical practice. “Theory,” “Concept,” and “Key Points” content can be watched anywhere — during your commute, in a cafe, on a lunch break.

Why This Matters

When everyone arrives having completed the same material, we can use our time together efficiently and build on shared foundations. Participants who follow the assignment schedule consistently come away with the deepest understanding of the material.

We encourage you to use the forum to communicate with each other, pose questions, and share what you’re experiencing. This is your space to connect with your cohort between sessions.

Read the Preparation Guide

We’ve put together a full guide covering what to expect, how to prepare, what to bring, venue details, and other information relevant to your sessions. We recommend reading through it before Saturday.

Participation Waiver

As part of our standard policy, all participants are required to complete a participation waiver before attending. The waiver covers the terms related to the venue, our obligations, and participant responsibility.

We recommend reading through it carefully and completing it in advance so we can get started smoothly on Saturday. You’ll have the option to receive a copy via email upon completion, and we recommend keeping one for your records.

Two things before this morning:

Participation Waiver — if you haven’t completed it yet, we recommend that you please do so before you arrive. Participation in the study group requires a completed waiver as part of our standard policy. It also covers liability for the venue. It only takes a few minutes.

Subject: Before We Meet This Saturday — Session 2 Assignment Preheader: Your next assignment, Session 1 summary, and a note on catching up before Saturday. Sent: 2026-04-08 Format: Plain text (no HTML version) Status: Sent

Hi everyone,

A reminder before we meet again this Saturday, April 11 (1:10–2:50 PM, Studio 2).

Your assignment for Session 2: complete Segment 3, lessons 3.1 through 3.8 (through Applied Practice Lab: Converge). This is approximately 56 minutes of new material. This segment introduces the foci — the different dynamics that organize how the forms are practiced. You’ll also encounter new forms.

As always, only the Practice and Applied Practice Lab lessons require full physical practice. The Concept, Key Points, and Theory content can be watched anywhere.

If you haven’t yet completed Assignment 1 (Segments 1–2), we’d encourage you to work through that first. Each assignment builds directly on the previous one, and the concepts and forms from Segments 1–2 are the foundation for everything that follows. Completing them isn’t only about staying on schedule. It’s about the in-person sessions and subsequent material making sense when you actually get to them.

We’ve posted a detailed summary of Session 1 to the forum, covering everything we practiced and discussed. It also includes the details for Assignment 2. You can find it here: https://practice.baseworks.com/groups/montreal-study-group-spring-2026-cohort/forum/discussion/session-1-summary-foundations-first-contact/#post-22186

And for the full assignment schedule: https://practice.baseworks.com/groups/montreal-study-group-spring-2026-cohort/forum/discussion/primer-assignments-2/#post-22127

If you have questions about the material or are running into anything on the platform, post in the forum — we check & respond regularly.

See you Saturday,

Patrick

Subject: Before We Meet This Saturday — Session 3 Assignment Preheader: Your next assignment, Session 2 summary, and a reminder on keeping earlier forms active. Sent: 2026-04-16 Format: Plain text (no HTML version) Status: Sent

Hi everyone,

A reminder before we meet again this Saturday, April 18 (9:10–10:50 AM, Studio 2).

The Session 2 summary is now posted to the forum. It covers the trajectory of the program, the Converge and Ascend foci, the seven forms we practiced, and the questions raised in the discussion. Worth a read before Saturday if you want to revisit anything: https://practice.baseworks.com/groups/montreal-study-group-spring-2026-cohort/forum/discussion/session-2-summary-trajectory-converge-ascend/#post-22210

Your assignment for Session 3: complete the rest of Segment 3, lessons 3.9 through 3.14. Approximately 43 minutes of new material. This segment covers the remaining foci, Inflect and Intent, along with the relationship between Baseworks Focus and traditional exercise goals. It’s one of the more conceptual segments, and as usual, the distinctions in it feed directly into what we do in person.

As always, only the Practice and Applied Practice Lab lessons need physical practice. The Concept, Key Points, and Theory content can be watched anywhere.

The forms from Sessions 1 and 2 continue alongside the new material. Smart Revisit is the main tool for keeping that earlier work active. The PrimerPrint curve on your dashboard shows your current ratio of new study to revisit.

Full assignment schedule, if you need it: https://practice.baseworks.com/groups/montreal-study-group-spring-2026-cohort/forum/discussion/primer-assignments-2/#post-22127

If anything comes up about the material or the platform, post in the forum and we’ll respond.

See you Saturday,

Patrick

Subject: Before We Meet This Saturday — Session 4 Assignment Send by: Wednesday, April 22 (3 days before Session 4)

Hi everyone,

Reminder before Session 4 this Saturday, April 25 (9:10-10:50 AM).

Your assignment: complete all of Segment 4 (lessons 4.1 through 4.12, Applied Practice Lab: Intensity Modification - Effort 2). This is the largest assignment of the program at approximately 87 minutes of new material.

Given the length, you may want to spread this one across a few days rather than doing it all in one sitting. The Practice and Applied Practice Lab portions require physical practice. The Concept, Key Points, and Theory content can be done anywhere.

See you Saturday,

Patrick
