The renewal procedure itself completed successfully and the mark is good through 5 February 2031. The outstanding amount is a fee to the agent, not to JPO.
Status: Patrick replied to Shobayashi on 3 August 2026 committing to transfer the full ¥145,150 within that week. Awaiting confirmation of receipt.

- Address on JPO register is stale — shows Fredericton NB; actual current address is Berlin (or Montreal). Shobayashi quoted ~¥30,000 for 表示変更登録申請 (display-change registration). Ksenia deferred on 2026-02-26 reasoning that mail still reaches the Fredericton address. Revisit once the operative address stabilizes.

(2) Credit card payment is not supported — bank transfer only. (3) An address change on the JPO register requires a separate 表示変更登録申請 filing costing approximately ¥30,000. A renewal application that has already been submitted cannot have its holder address changed retroactively. Shobayashi offered to file the display-change separately if desired.
26 Feb 2026 — Ksenia’s decision

Nagayama proposed a two-step schedule: a partial payment of any amount by 30 June, with the remainder by 31 July.
Ksenia replied the same day, apologising for the delay, citing cash-flow constraints, and undertaking to make contact again by the end of July with either payment in full or a proposed instalment plan.
3 Aug 2026 — Patrick’s reply: full settlement committed
Section titled “3 Aug 2026 — Patrick’s reply: full settlement committed”No contact was made in the intervening period; the end-of-July undertaking passed unanswered. Patrick replied to Nagayama on 3 August.
The draft prepared for him (Japanese, signed in Ksenia’s name, addressed to keiri@sho-pat.com) confirmed that the full ¥145,150 would be transferred within that week, that no partial payment or instalment plan would be needed, and asked Shobayashi to confirm once received. On his instruction the reply opens directly with the settlement rather than with お詫び for the missed end-of-July undertaking.
The wording as actually sent isn’t verified. One line was left to his judgement: whether to state that the transfer originates in Japan, which was the condition Shobayashi attached in February to re-addressing the invoice to him personally. Confirm against the sent message before relying on the detail here.
