Instant muscle fatigue

When I attempted these movements in the lunge position, my leg muscles became severely fatigued so quickly that I didn’t even think to modify the intensity. I knew the video was only a few minutes long so I rode it out. My legs were tired for the rest of the day. This is not something I’m used to experiencing, so it’s somewhat freaky.

Section titled “Reply by Patrick — 2026-04-09”@james.murray this is a valuable insight. The fatigue you experienced in the lunge is telling you something about the level of effort you were working at. In that form, if the front leg is getting tired, the stance can be shortened. The key focus points of the form (the Ascend ASCEND the TORSION) remain the same at a reduced range. The general principle we come back to throughout the program is that intensity should be at a level where your breathing stays relaxed and conversational. When fatigue sets in to the point where it’s affecting the rest of your day, that’s a clear signal to reduce — not to push through. This is something that gets easier to calibrate over time, and the in-person sessions are specifically designed to help with that.
