Forms with this focus include very basic bodily positions that serve as the foundation for most movements performed in daily life — for example, standing with feet hip-width apart, or standing with feet wider than hip-width apart.

Goal: Use DA and MM to explore what it feels like to inhabit these basic positions, so that we can find the same limb configurations when the body or body parts are not vertical (when the direction of gravity changes). STRUCTURE forms establish the reference point that other foci — particularly GRAVITY — compare against.

  • Focus — overview of the Focus framework
  • GRAVITY — closest counterpart; uses STRUCTURE as a vertical reference
