Studio 2 | 12:10-1:50 PM (~100 min) Assignment: Segment 5, Lessons 5.5-5.8 (~27 min) — Reclining Transition + Equate

The cohort has completed all five segments of the Primer. The session runs as practice: minimum explanation, continuous movement, less individual assistance.

Co-teaching split:

  • Asia leads: Ignition, standing review + Split Form Inflection
  • Patrick leads: from Z-Lunge onward — Z Expansion C-Tuck, Peak/Plank/Press-Up, V-Sit + Leg Raise (conditional), Reclining Transition, Equate, seated end block, Assimilation
  • Whoever isn’t leading stays back — minimal roaming this session.

Total without conditionals: ~111 min

From Segment 5, Lessons 5.5-5.8 (this week’s assignment):

  • Reclining Transition — Patrick
  • Equate — Patrick

Carry-forward from Session 5:

  • Horizontal Shoulder Flex + Shoulder Rotation — Patrick
  • Plank and Press-Up as the Peak/Plank/Press-Up sequence — Patrick

  • James’s Plank question (alignment with knees on floor): Patrick addresses this before the block — same midline and shoulder-depression mechanics apply; the reduction is in load, not structural principle

Q&A close: Primer completion and what comes next

Section titled “Q&A close: Primer completion and what comes next”

At the close, briefly frame the path forward:

Session 7 (May 16) is the final session. There is no assignment for Session 7 — it runs as a practice session using everything covered in the program.

That said: to get the most from the program long-term, we recommend completing the full Primer — segments 6 through 10 (approximately 6-10 segments remaining, depending on where each person is).

Smart Revisit keeps earlier work active in the meantime. The PrimerPrint page has the full description.

  • James — asked specifically about knees-down Plank/Press-Up alignment in Session 5. Patrick addresses this before the Plank block. Also check in on the ankle before Horizontal Shoulder Flex — sitting on heels loads the top of the foot; IM Safety applies if still recovering.
  • Elinor — missed Session 5. Horizontal Shoulder Flex, Plank, and Press-Up will be new to her. The seated block (Square Cross Inflection, Seated Wide Inflection, Seated Inflection) she has prior contact with. Current on the assignment.
