Hello everyone! Welcome to the Winter 2026 Montreal Study Group!

Please check the Discussions > Primer Assignments post.

The first assignment is due before the first in-person session on January 24! For this assignment, you’ll need to complete the first two segments of the Primer.

That’s 15 short lessons: 58 minutes in total, but only 12 minutes of practice (so, the remaining 46 min can be watched from anywhere).

Participation Waiver

Hi everyone,

Quick reminder before tomorrow’s session: please complete the participation waiver before we meet at 9:40 am. You can complete it here.

This is different from the participation questionnaire—the waiver is required and will save time tomorrow if you complete it before you arrive tomorrow morning.

Looking forward to seeing you all in the morning!

Merci à tous pour aujourd’hui / Session Summary!

[Le français suit]

Thank you for today, everyone. We had a fantastic time and it was a great start to our winter study cohort. We’re really looking forward to continuing our work together.

Your Next Assignment – Due Before Session 2 (Tuesday, January 27, 18:10-19:50): Complete Segment 3, lessons 3.1-3.8 (through 3.8 Applied Practice Lab: Converge) Total time: approximately 56 minutes

Our recommendation: Don’t cram. Start today and spread the work over the next three days. This approach—with sleep between study sessions—helps you engage with the concepts with fresh eyes. We understand everyone has busy schedules, but spacing out your study is the most effective way to comprehend the material.

Regarding Q&A: We apologize for the limited time today. Our strict venue exit times mean we’ll sometimes need to direct questions to the forum. We’re consolidating our in-person time for practical work, but we’ll also try to build in more Q&A where possible. We understand that in-person discussions work better for some of you.

You can see the session summary here on the forum.

[English above]

Problem with the course online

It happens to me three times that I was listening completely the video from the beginning until the end and then when I’m trying to look for the done button, it’s nowhere to be seen… so I had to listen to it once again and then, at that moment, the button was visible. when it’s one or two minutes it’s OK but it happened to me on the 13 minutes video so I’m wondering what I’m not doing well because I really took care not to finish the video until it ends by itself and I would like to know what to do if it happens again to avoid having to do the listening once more.

Patrick — 2026-01-24

@genevieve.trepanier Asia will follow up directly to let you know how to navigate the interface.

the 3.2 video

Hello, everyone! Thanks again to Patrick and Asia for yesterday’s excellent class!

I’m currently trying to do exercise 3.2, and I find it impossible not to arch my chest, because if I don’t do it a little, my lower back curves. So I’m wondering to what extent I should accept that my lower back or chest arches. The other solution would be to lean forward less… or maybe ‘a little of everything’?

Asia — 2026-01-25

Hey, Any. Thank you for your question. Can you please clarify - are you talking about the Wide Squat or Suspended Star Inflection?

Once you confirm, I can offer more precise advice, but generally, the solution is probably “lean forward less.” We explore this in detail in Segment 4 through the principle of Intensity Modification.

If you can keep your chest neutral (ribcage and pelvis stacked, no significant back arch) while standing, you can maintain it when you begin tilting forward from the hips (both Wide Squat and Suspended Star Inflection start with this hinging movement). As you continue hinging, if you reach a point where you can no longer prevent your spine from arching or your chest from flaring - that’s where you stop. You’ve hit your limitation in control at this moment. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t reached what you think of as the “final position.”

In Baseworks, we never think in terms of final positions. That’s the logic of habitual movement (reverse kinematics): knowing where you want to end up and letting your body execute the “best route.” In Baseworks, it’s about being aware and in control of everything that happens along the way. If at any point there’s a limitation in awareness or control, you stop.

Any Guay — 2026-01-25

@asia its perfect ! thanks !

Patrick — 2026-01-26

@any.guay Thanks very much for the great question. Might you please be able to let us know which form you were referring to? It would just help as context for anybody that reads this in the future!

Technical Issue with “Done” Button – Please Share Your Experience

Hi everyone,

Genevieve recently shared an important observation in our group feed about the “Done” button not appearing after watching videos in their entirety, which means the content must be re-watched before the button becomes visible. A few of you have liked this post, which suggests others may be experiencing something similar.

We want to address this promptly, but we need more information to understand what’s happening. If you’re experiencing this issue—or any other technical difficulties with the platform—please post the details as a new discussion topic in our sub-forum: “Technical difficulties: 2026 Winter Cohort”

The more specific information we receive (exactly what you’re experiencing, which lessons, screenshots if possible), the faster we can work toward a solution.

In your discussion topic under this subform, please include the following information:

  • Which lesson or section you were accessing
  • What specifically happened (or didn’t happen)
  • Any error messages you received
  • Screenshots or screen recordings if possible
  • What device/browser you’re using If you see a post describing an issue you’re also experiencing, please comment to let us know—this helps us understand how widespread the problem is and prioritize accordingly.

Thank you for helping us improve the platform experience for everyone.

Manon Beaudoin — 2026-01-26

I have listened to the lesson Peak hold, three times and the button “done” does not appear, so I can’t go further.

pain…

Just a quick note to say that I have a lot of pain behind my legs and in my pelvis (remember that I had a focal fracture of the iliac bone a year and a half ago…), and because of this, I am having a lot of difficulty doing the exercises in section 3. I think I pushed myself a little too hard at the beginning of the section, which is making the rest difficult for me! So I may not be very active during tonight’s class! sorry for that !

Despite everything, I want to say how interesting I find this training. And as soon as I’ve recovered, I’ll happily start doing the exercises again with a more appropriate intention for my body…

see you tonight !

Any

Patrick — 2026-01-27

@any.guay Thank you for sharing this—it takes real awareness to recognize when something isn’t working and to communicate it. What you’re describing is actually helping us address something important for the entire group. Notice for January 27’s class

Hi everyone,

I’ll be coaching a class prior to today’s practice. I should normally have enough time to arrive on time or very close to it, but with Montréal traffic and unpredictable weather, there is a possibility that I may arrive slightly after 6:10.

Thank you for your understanding.

Patrick — 2026-01-27

@Luchi Thank you very much for the heads up. Please just make sure you have the codes handy. We’re looking forward to seeing you later!

sorry for tonight…

Hello, everyone! I’m just letting you know that I won’t be able to make it tonight. I’m really sore from getting through segment three, and I’m having a lot of trouble moving my legs right now… I’m in the middle of back-to-school season at work, and I had a big day today and another big one tomorrow. Since I won’t be able to do the exercises with you and I also have to shovel my driveway… I think I’ll take a hot bath tonight and see you on Saturday! I’m sad because I got up very early this morning to finish segment three in time for tonight… but I have to admit that two classes in a row like that were too much for me. Have a great session, and I’ll see you on Saturday!

Patrick — 2026-01-27

@any.guay Thanks for letting us know. For future reference, in this type of situation, you are more than welcome to come along, listen, watch, observe, and join in at any time you feel is appropriate. See you Saturday.

There shortly

Hey, everyone. We are stuck in heavy traffic. We should be there just on time, at 18:10.

Please let yourselves in. Its Studio A tonight.

See you soon!

Luchida Michel — 2026-01-28

HI, Despite my best intentions, I was not able to attend afterall. The road and traffic turned out to incidents on the road

Hope you made it safely

See you next session

Patrick — 2026-01-28

@Luchi Yes—crazy roads and traffic last night. We’ll be posting the session summary this afternoon. Please take a look at it, review the Key Points, and redo the practice labs from the previous assignment a few times so you’re familiar with the forms we covered last night. That should help you hit the ground running on Saturday. See you soon.

Luchida Michel — 2026-01-28

@patrick Roger that thank you 🙌🏿

mimi.robert.trudel — 2026-01-28

I shall do the same :-). I was not caught in traffic, but in a vertigo episode.

Patrick — 2026-01-28

@mimi.robert.trudel Take care and see you soon.

Session 2 Summary: Gravity, Converge & Building from Foundation

[Le français suit]

Thank you very much for yesterday’s session! We’ve posted a detailed summary of everything we covered, which you can find here on the forum.

Your Next Assignment - Due Before Session 3 (Saturday, January 31, 9:40-11:20): Complete Segment 3, lessons 3.9-3.14 Total time: approximately 43 minutes

You have more time for this assignment compared to the quick turnaround before Session 2. Please spread the work over several days to allow time to digest the ideas and practice the Labs between study sessions.

We encourage you to:

  • Post your questions to the forum with appropriate tags

  • Use the Smart Revisit feature on your dashboard to review Practice Labs

  • Practice independently at home, but remember to take breaks

  • Be patient with the learning process - confusion and difficulty controlling movements is exactly what we’re working with

  • Review the session summary

Remember: This practice affects people differently. We can’t predict exactly what outcomes you experience. Many of you have already shared in your segment reflections or directly after the sessions about certain shifts in task understanding/perception/tension release that have occurred just after one or two sessions. The systematic practice reveals more the more you explore it.

Thank you for your continued engagement and for the excellent questions both in person and on the forum. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday for our longer session!

FRANCAIS-

@clementinemorrigan I also suffer from migraines and it’s the atmospheric pressure changes that really trigger them for me. I hope you’re feeling better today, and we look forward to seeing you next week.
