The six principles are the formal framework describing how any movement is performed in Baseworks. They were derived through Reverse Engineering of the iterative refinement process (Phase 3).
Catchphrase: Baseworks is not about what you are doing but about how you’re doing it.
Each principle maps onto one of three perceptual skill domains:
| Principle | Type | Perceptual Skill Targeted |
|---|---|---|
| Distributed Activation (DA) | Micro-movement | Proprioceptive (muscular mechanosensation) |
| Micro Movements (MM) | Micro-movement | Proprioceptive (muscular mechanosensation) |
| Gridlines and Symmetry (GS) | Macro-movement | Spatial |
| Fixing-Separating-Isolating (FSA) | Macro-movement | Spatial |
| Natural Breathing (NB) | Regulatory | Interoceptive |
| Intensity Modification (IM) | Regulatory | Interoceptive |
Three categories by function:
- Micro-movement principles (DA, MM): govern continuous engagement at low intensity
- Macro-movement principles (GS, FSA): govern how visible positional changes are executed
- Regulatory principles (NB, IM): govern monitoring and adjustment of effort and arousal
All six principles are applied simultaneously in any Baseworks movement. See Simultaneity.
