Section label: The Approach

Lead: Baseworks is a movement education program. The work focuses on developing a clear understanding of how the body moves.

Body:

The study is structured — guided practice, close attention to what is happening in the body, and systematic progression through the method. Every format teaches the same system. The format shapes how you encounter it.

Practitioners often notice that the awareness and self-regulation skills developed through this practice become useful in other areas of their lives — in how they learn, concentrate, and sustain effort. This is a common outcome of structured practice.

Heading: The foundational online course

Stats: 79 Lessons · 12+ Hours · Self-paced Access

Primer covers the neuroscience of movement, the key principles of the Baseworks method, and guided practice sequences. It is the conceptual foundation — designed to be completed before or alongside in-person study.

Primer is included automatically in Study Group and Study Lab enrollments. It is also available as a standalone course for people who want to start online.

The Practice Platform is for practitioners who have completed a Study Group, Study Lab, or equivalent Baseworks program and want to continue their practice online between in-person sessions. Access is through program completion — it is not open enrollment.

The platform evolves alongside the in-person programs. Shorter-format sessions are in development.

Section label: Find Your Entry Point

Heading: Where to start

Intro: Here are three common entry points. If you already know what you’re looking for, the information below will help. If you’re not sure, the intake form at the bottom of this section will guide you.

The Baseworks Primer is a 12-hour self-paced online course covering the method’s conceptual and practical foundations. The Study Group is the primary in-person format — a cohort program that includes Primer access. Both are open to people new to the method, and either can serve as a starting point.

Practitioners with a serious background in a technical movement discipline — martial arts, professional dance, physiotherapy, gymnastics, or similar — may be eligible to join Practice Sessions directly. The intake form below is used to confirm eligibility and identify the best fit.

Study Labs deliver an immersive version of the Study Group curriculum combined with Primer pre-study and online cohort interaction before the event. Each lab runs over consecutive days — weekend or week-long, depending on the program. Offered in cities worldwide — upcoming dates are announced through the mailing list.

Section label: Not sure?
